|Abstract||The paper quotes data from research on adult population’s physical and sports activity based on the result of a social study involving 5,703 people. During the research, motives of selecting motor activity, preferred exercise forms, indicators of population activity across various age groups were identified. Based on research findings, a conclusion is made that population’s low motor activity is caused by the availability of venues for physical exercise and the social and economic living environment. It is suggested that population’s motor activity growth factors could be: availability and quality of physical exercise and sports services, sport and recreation for all age groups and population’s social and demographical categories ; specifically, mechanisms of organizing and conducting family classes with physical exercise and active recreation need to be found; the level of motor activity should be assessed by healthcare workers (brief consultations on that subject); socially significant and approved need (fashion) for physical activity should be shaped at the state and public level (changing behaviors and habits by fighting low activity, creating the need for movement (building regular sports habits)); models of physical training across different age groups need to be developed, taking into account gender and age features. All this will enhance physical activity, making a significant contribution towards improving the health of the country’s population.|
